What is the hottest Zagi motor available...do not want a brushless and I
want one that will work with the stock speed control.

Depends. There is more than one "stock" speed control. They first came with a
15 amp control, now i think it's a 20 amp model. With the 15 amp speed control
you already have about all the motor it can stand. That's why they went to a 20
amp model. Look at a colbalt speed 400 if you have the larger speed control.

Long can 480 (permax/hopbby-lobby) is a decent upgrade, as is
graupner/sagami speed 480 RACE. The standard graupner/sagami speed 480
needs 10 cells to light up. As does jamara pro 480. These are on the
boil at 15A or so.

Think a permax 450 turbo is also a good un, but swings a slightly bigger
prop.

Jamara pro 480 HS or HS BB is good on 8 cells as well.
Next step is brushless really - mega 16/15/4 on 8 cells, or one of the
Kontoniks offerings.

Friends don't let friends fly Zagis.

I'm using the wattage Cobalt Motor, with a 6x4 prop.  It flies almost as
well as a zagi with an Astro brushless.  But at $29, it's a heck of a lot
cheaper than going brushless.  Not sure if the amps drawn exceed the stock
ESC because I have a 35AMP speed control from another plane that I'm using.

Try a 480 with a pusher prop. Doesn't it seem
wrong when the instructions tell you to solder
the black wire to the terminal with the red dot
next to it? That's because it is wrong, the
cheap brushed motors that come with many
flying wings are not designed to run clockwise. It
wears them out fast, they never display the
power they're capable of. Now they try to
sell us reversed time motors.......Duh! That
does not change the way the brushes ride
on commutator (wrong direction).Try this,
get yourself a new Wattage 480 ($9.99), a
prop adapter and a pusher, tractor, lefthanded
prop what ever term your LHS likes to use.
Your new motor will work the way it was designed
to work. It will produce more power,
it will last much longer. HobbyPeople carries
a bunch of them.

peller

They also carry a 3 bladed Cox prop that works very well.

You wouldn't drive your car around in reverse, so why
do it to your motor

Oh yeah, order a couple 1800 mah packs from
http://www.unipros.com/cbpsite/mainasp.asp?session_id=67507
Your Zagi will fly like it's never flown before.
Post your results.

I think the reserve on this is $14.50

Way more power than the Zagi pack, more
duration, lighter and less than half the cost.
