The Jet does fly but has some issues. It likes a little wind to hel
it get altitude, there is no on/off for the throttle, you turn it o
and it runs til the built in bec kicks out the turbine. Typical runtim
is about 4 ta 5 min, then however much glide time you can milk out o
it. I had fun wiht mine, but it is currently down due to overchargin
of the pack on the cheapy timer charger that came with it. The radio t
is also micky mouse, but this plane will fly over 500 feet away.
The Remote Control Air Tech Burner is total crap in my opinion, I hav
1 and a friend was gulable enough to buy 3 of them. CG is supe
important in this plane, and I mean that literaly, it has to be righ
on.The battery is small, but manages about 4 min. It glides ok if yo
can manage to get it up there. But 2 out of 4 of these has had a fault
radio in my experience. kept cutting out at ranges over 40 feet. I
flys, but we have to mess with it allot, and it fails to fly ver
often.

I cant say much about this plane having not owned one before, but i
looks kinda bulky and clumsy to me. Perhaps someone else can review i
for you.
Of your 3 choices, I would take the Jet,
( and yes, there are a million other planes you could choose from tha
are better then these 3 by a real long shot. ) but seeing as how th
discovery store inventory is your choice. take the Jet.

Thanks, Ken! I appreciate the detailed info.
I was thinking perhaps I might just try purchasing something from the
Discovery store for resale and then using the money to buy him some
other plane. So I think I'll just look for another good RC plane under
$100.
So anyone want anything from the Discovery Store? :)

Getting what is basically an inexpensive toy to fly is like buying a
cheap telescope--it serves to make you want a better one, but that's
about it.

Not junk exactly, more like decidedly overpriced children's toys.
Read the various product reviews and note that these items are
described as best suited for children 12 and under.
Perhaps a better bet would be a good video or video set. Maybe
Stephen Hawking's 'Universe', or one of the IMAX shuttle vids like
'Hail Columbia' or 'The Dream Is Alive, or something along those
lines.
Except for the books and videos, I've found The Discovery Store to be
an expensive rendition of Toys-R-Us-Does-Science-Sort-Of.
