Hi,
I have " gradudated" with my 3-channel electro and am now looking out
for a GLOW trainer ...
I consider buying a SEAGULL Arising Star ...
If you take everything in account ( Quality of ARF-kit, Flying
Characteristics , and so on ...) ,would You say this is a good
aileron glow trainer ?
Thanks ...
Zitten hier ook Belgen of Nederlanders ? Ik ben een newbie en kan best
wat hulp gebruiken ...

I am not familiar with the Seagull Arising Star. What I am familiar
with and can highly recommend are the following 4 channel planes:
Hobbico SuperStar (flat bottom airfoil)
Hobbico Avistar (semi-symetrical airfoil)
Sig LT-40 (flat bottom airfoil)
Any of those plane powered with a ball bearing 46 will make an
outstanding trainer.
Some USER FRIENDLY engines I can recommend are:
OS 46 FX/AX, Thunder Tiger Pro 46, Evolution 46.
From first hand experience I can say that 99.9% run great right out of
the box, have plenty of power not only for your trainer, but for a
second (and more) plane. From observations I have made at the flying
field and from various reports, I would avoid MDS brand engines and
MegaTech (made by MDS). Do a search on RC Universe
http://www.rcuniverse.com/ and form your own opinion of the engine.
Hope this is of some help.

I would say Arising Star has some weak points, stock landing gear is
very weak, wing halves don't fit perfectly together and fuselage
structure in my opinion is weaker that in many other trainers because of
wood used. I guess it flies ok anyway.

Thank you people...
The OS 46 Fx has always been a certainety...I'm sure to buy that engin
..MDS and Megatech I know are to avoid...to many bad reviews..
I'm not buying the star then... your views concur with others...
I've learned flying all by myself on the Hobbyzone Aerobird Challenge
and Extreme( with success I might add ) , but now I need to buy a plan
which I don't have to let travel thousands of miles to reach my home i
Belgium, Western Europe ...
Anybody heard of the Kyosho Calmato ? Should be a first rate traine

Is there a site that compares trainers
