Is anyone kitting the old Sterling  Mini-Fledgling?  I really enjoyed this
kit when I was first learning and would love to build another in the
Laser-cut format.

Thanks

I reduced the big Fledgling plans to 3/4 size and did my own version a
while back.  You could go that way if nobody else offers the actual
plans.  I'll make you a copy at whetever Kinko's charges plus mailing if
you want.

I understand.  I have a full kit,  just wanted a lasercut one if I could
find it.  The Sterling Diecrush wasn't my favorite kind of kits. Just wanted
something cleaner and nicer to build one.

Still looking for a laser cut

Does anyone know how to incorp a scaned jpg into Turbo cad to create a cut
file?

Yes.

Seriously, TurboCAD v11 will do raster-to-vector conversion as a native
function.  If you're using an earlier or free version, then try the
freeware version of WinTopo  http://www.wintopo.com/  .  There are a
few limitations over the paidware version, but it works very well.  If
I recall, it won't work on JPG files, only BMPs, but freeware file
format converters are available.  Tip: It's best to clean up your
drawing as much as possible before running WinTopo because it will
convert EVERY mark, large or small, from raster to vector, which can
add greatly to conversion time.

I converted this to a full house with throttled carb for 1/2a pylon
racing - extra large fuel tank and all. Won a few trophies with this
model as a result back in the mid 1970s. What a lovely project.

I believe I'll have another as soon as they're ready, mate. Let me
know by e-mail.

I reduced the standard Fledgling plans 20%, made it a taildragger, and
used conventional instead of strip ailerons.  Only one mistake:  I took
off on high aileron rate, and  rolled it into the ground on the first
turn.  DUMB!!!  I've not yet finished rebuilding the destroyed wing.
I'll use half as much throw when I do!!!

I powered it with an Irvine .25, which was plenty of power.  My
full-sized Fledgling was my first four channel plane,  built about
1977.  I still have it.

The Sterling Mini-Fledgling laser cut kits are ready this week. I'l
post some pictures of the parts if anyone is interested. I am sendin
one over to Jason Mayes for a test build. He is the local Fledglin
expert and has scratch built several different sizes and versions.

I might like one.  What's your website?
BTW, here's a 3/4 size Fledgling, highly modified!

Perhaps start a new thread? This one is attached to an old one with
the same subject line. Maybe use "New Mini-Fledgling" this time.
