Open it and clean it with alcohol and let it dry and try it.  I have gotten
them wet and still worked.

No it is not junk.
Take it completely apart and clean the top and bottom of the circuit board
with a mixture of fresh water and a small amount of alcohol. Let it dry
completely before applying battery power.

If you do not clean the circuit board , you can get "dendritic growth" from
the contaminents in the "pond/lake" water.

Iyt will dry out.

If it was dunked in salt water of coffee, wash it (yes wash it) with
clean water first.

To dry out faster, you can dip it in alcohol..this absorbs the water and
runs off...and dries faters.

Give it then about 36 hours in a warm dry place.

Certainly not junk Terry,As the others have said pull apart, wash and in
my case I gently brushed with a very soft paint brush all the insides
with methylated spirits (alcohol) then dried it out with a hair
dryer.10 minutes and back into the plane and all ok.
