WhoDat - 20 Jul 2007 03:30 GMT Don't you just love it when a moderator's posts are completely unhelpful on the question asked. Then he argues word choice with the one person who actually posts useful information. Then he gets rude. Then he deletes your post when you call him on it and he goes back to change his posts to make them more informative and less rude.
Pompous A holes!

It's almost as tacky as you posting your complaint about an individual without having the guts to spell out who it is you're talking about.
Is "Pompous A holes" your signature? If not, then finish your story and tell us who the other(s) is/are.

The "moderating"at RCU convinced me to close up my account there for good. I find RC Groups to be much more friendly.

Well they can be strangely picky too.
If you slag off one of their sponsors, critcise the incumbent president, or point out someones mental deficiencies ...
But yes, I've heard its a bit more relaxed than RCU.
AND I've discovered how to block ALL the advertising*. Haha. Up yours Hobby-Lobby.
Its still about the best signal to noise ratio BBS for toy planes on teh net.

They offered me the moderator job several years ago, but I declined. Of course, I was much more sedate myself back then. They had a good crew at the time too. I'm too variable, depending upon how the neuropathy is behaving.
I don't want to give up any of the forums, myself, though I do make myself scarce here and there upon occasion.
Oh, off topic, but may be interesting.
I just received an order from Tiger Direct. They were selling two sets of headphones w/FM radio and transmitting station for $25. I bought two sets (four) and boy am I glad I did. The FM radio portion is the best I've owned (headsets) and they work very well. Even the sound is good for listening to music, talk radio or tunes on the computer. Just thought I'd pass along the info.

Ed Forsythe - 22 Jul 2007 17:29 GMT "If you slag off one of their sponsors, critcise (sic) the incumbent president, or point out someones (sic) mental deficiencies ..." You may do all those things on either group as long as you do it intelligently and are courteous. The mods are inclined to be rather harsh with rude cretins ;-)

I haven't been spending much time at RC Groups... too many hobbies, not enough time. I've been getting to the flying field somewhat regularly, but this weekend I'm off on an eight-day bicycle trip. Yee hah! I get to sleep in a tent all week! It's tough on my middle-aged bones, but still just as much fun as when I was a kid (same for the bicycling!). Actually, I still AM a kid. Just an oldish one...

Geoff Sanders - 21 Jul 2007 03:53 GMT I'm off on an eight-day bicycle trip. Yee hah!
You got a Ducati bicycle? ;-) You oughta get together with "Glue Sniffer" on RC Groups. He's uhhh - "gearing up" to pedal his fanny across Nevada.
I used to ride a lot too, but not much any more. Now I mostly just hang out on the Scale Electric section of RC Groups. :-) I only check out the "For Sale" ads on RCU, and never read the forums.

I pedaled from the eastern edge of Colorado to the west side of Missouri, across Kansas, last year. It was my first long trip and an absolute blast. For anyone on this group considering it, bicycling is a great healthy hobby and easy on the body. On the Kansas trip, I would estimate that at 45 years old, I was in the middle of, or below, the average age of the participants. It was an organized, supported trip where a rental truck hauls your camping gear from town to town and water and snack stops are set up every 15 miles or so. You just ride your bike and enjoy the scenery. http://www.bak.org/index.php
One of my 70-year-old R/C flying buddies bought a new bike last year and is now a regular rider.

I just bought a small trailer to tow behind my bike on my trip next week (this is an unsupported trip; just me and a couple of friends). It is big enough to hold most of my electric-powered R/C models. http://www.bicycletrailers.com/Croozer-Cargo-Trailer.pro Now I'll be able to commute to the flying field by bicycle. Get back on your bike, Geoff!

Ed Forsythe - 22 Jul 2007 17:51 GMT Ducati bikes 2-$4K range?

Sadly I think my days of riding my old Bridgestone MB6 are through, looks like I've a nasty case of sciatica. Can't ride in a car or truck for more than 1/2 hour without pain. Pedeling is just as bad, at least I still ride a motorcycle or fly model airplanes.
Signature Keith Schiffner History does not record anywhere at any time a religion that has any rational basis. Religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help. But, like dandruff, most people do have a religion and spend time and money on it and seem to derive considerable pleasure from fiddling with it. Robert Heinlein
Geoff Sanders - 21 Jul 2007 22:18 GMT > Sadly I think my days of riding my old Bridgestone MB6 are through, looks like > I've a nasty case of sciatica. Have you tried a recumbent? I know a guy who crashed a Cessna 152 and was broke his back. I rode Seattle-to Portland with him some while back. He rode a recumbent and had no problem. Every few miles he'd look up and say, "How's your butt, Geoff?" "How's your neck, Geoff?" ;-) Also consider that the human-powered aircraft that holds the world record for distance and duration, "Daedalus," is powered is pedaled in the recumbent position. Here's a photo of the Light Eagle, Daedalus' prototype, which holds the women's record. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:EC87-0014-8.jpg See, I tied it back into airplanes again! :-) BTW, they guy who designed the propulsion system for both birds is an avid R/C flier!

Last one I looked at cost more than my 79' GL1000 cost me. 8^) That was a steal of a deal on a survivor.
Signature Keith Schiffner Reality is motorcycles all else is fantasy. If you don't want to give her a hard ride you aren't a real man. Straight or gay she gets your to grinning and acting like a fool kid.
Jim - 20 Jul 2007 15:40 GMT RCU can be a pain sometimes. Unfortunately the so-called moderators are not always very knowledgeable. That's why i don't go there very much anymore.
