Hi Everyone,
I thought I'd better introduce myself. After a long time of dreaming about a
model railway, last Saturday I took the first step- I went to Branchline in
Croydon, looking to but a train set.The only thing they had that interested
me was the Flying Scotsman set, at $345. I was told by one of the guys at
work that if you buy a set, you mainly pay for the loco, everything else is
cheaper so they make a profit. After looking around, I ended up getting a
Hornby 0-6-0 Pannier tank loco, class J83, 68480 weathered edition, one
wagon, a Spectrum Magnum controller and a Peco setrack starter pack. I set
it up, temporarily, in the garage on Saturday night, and I've been out there
every night since. This hobby is addictive!
I'm already thinking about expanding, and adding more loco's and rolling
stock- it's just a matter of time and money!
I think I'm hooked!
Regards,
Laurie.

Yup, like all my bloody hobbies;-) I am also in Melbourne, I work around
the corner from Train World in Brighton. It's like fighting an addiction
sometimes. Maybe we need to organize a MTEA (Model Train Enthusiast's
anonymous) meet;-)

Good idea. Do you think they'll have a layout we can operate? :)

I live about 15 minutes drive from Branchline and work about 15 minutes drive
from Train World. I've been in both shops this past week - "just looking" of
course.
