As you will see from the above thread, the seller has NOT hidden his
identity.   That is his correct name and email address.   You might
apologise to him!

Hunslet.

Hunslet, you have missed the point. This seller hides the BIDDERS'
identities. So Biggus has nothing to apologise for, and indeed his point
is well taken.

Point taken.

Nothing to hide actually. I've had a couple of people over the years ask
me not to leave feedback for them because they don't want others (their
wives maybe!) knowing what they've bought.

Also, just recently after I purchased a fairly popular item, I received
a number of requests to resell it and one to sell me something quite
similar!

Besides, saying that it'll let friends push the price up is all well and
good, but who would have a eBay UserID of 'PaulsFriend44' or similar.
Besides I don't even know 'Kevin66' or 'BigBadLocoGirl'...

Just an experiment, and if people want something, they'll bid anyway (I
hope).

Thanks
Paul

Well, I have no intention of buying a 17 class - but if I did seek to
buy a fairly expensive item, I certainly would not bid (except perhaps
in the last few seconds)  on an auction where I could not see who I was
bidding against and what their bidding behaviour is (the latter being
perhaps the more important). Possible dishonesty by the seller is only
just one aspect of that. So at least in my case, your "hope" would be false.

Eddie,

Maybe you'd like my Trainorama 47 Class instead, with all bids there for
everyone to see.

Can you read?

As you will see from the auction, "High bidder: User ID kept private "
you might lick my balls.

People sell using the Hide feature because ebay lets them. It's up to
the seller, he can do that if he likes, just as you have used your
choice not to bid on these auctions.  I have been going to Auctions now
for many years and i havn't been to many where i know who i am bidding
against so i fail to see the difference.

Yes,
I understand what is happening, but I'm with Eddie, I'd never bid in any
of these auctions. I guess its all a matter of transparency. That's the gargon
that is used today. Check with little Johnie.

I also agree with the concept of OPEN bidding.
Not these 'bidder id hidden' surely we have more than enough of this
'privacy' crap without having it on a very large open auction site.
It leaves open the chance to manipulate the bidding.
If people want to remain 'unknown' then don't use eBay.
There is only 1 or 2 of the hundreds of thousands of sellers who hides the
bidders id.
I for one will not enter bids to any auctions who have the  bidders id
hidden.
