Yes, here I am again David, making one of my rare appearances on this ng.
At the Hurstville exhibition, while I was wistfully looking at the piles of
especially-imported-for-the-exhibition cement wagons on the Austrains stand,
I was assured my fully paid-for models were in a container somewhere on the
South China Sea, implying they should be here in the not-too-distant future.
That was back at the beginning of Oct. Since then, those who didnt order in
advance have been flaunting their strings of Austrains cement hoppers
(someone bought six packs!) at the clubrooms just about every running day.
Makes me feel a bit silly about heeding the advice "get your order in now so
you dont miss out", which is what happened to me with the BCHs. Hence my
desire to make sure I got a few cement wagons. Should have realised they
would not have been quite as popular as the BCHs and that there would
likely be plenty to go around, and I could safely not order and pay for in
advance. I too could have bought mine at the exhibition had I known.
Anyone got info as to when they will be available to a Muggins like me?

Bill,
I've stopped "getting my order in now" for all new products because, for NSW
stuff any way,
they never sell out all at once.
With popular items like the BCHs i just make sure i get there when they are
released to the public.
I might as well hang on to my money for as long as possible.

G'Day Bill,
I rang John E at the "shop" and received my models a few days later. I even
offered to come up to Sydney and help unpack the container!! I think he was
pretty busy and was trying to get everything off to the Post Office. My
guess is that he gets so many parcels done a day (after all it is a very
small cottage industry) And when the car is fully loaded it gets continued
the next day. But as I started to tell you, a friendly call works wonders
:o)) In fact I had to ring Ron at Eureka to get my Garratt about 10 weeks
after they arrived (I think I had fully paid for it about 2 years earlier :)
and I really believe it was just overwhelming with few hands on deck to
check the model, repack it and mail it out.
Cheers
Rod

Ok thanks for that info. I guess my name starting with "W" means I'm at the
bottom of the list. I'll do as you suggest.
