You're welcome to use the RailZone forums which are part of my
railway-related website at "http://www.railzone.org/phpBB2/index.php".

Anybody got a spare $5000 ??
I believe that is what they need to get RailPage working properly.
Bandwidth is not a problem, but the aging server is letting things down. It
runs 24/7 and the traffic far exceeds any other rail related site in
Australia, and would be up there in the top 20 World wide.
I made some enquiries asking what the problem was, and it is simply dollars
and cents!! Large outgoings and very little income.
I am not sure if David would accept donations, but as the site is a major
railways resource, it would be nice to see it running properly, and keeping
up with broad band demands.
Perhaps it is time for us to dip our hands into our wallets. The cobwebs
have owned them for long enough!
Cheers

if each member of railpage was charged 1 dollar annually that would be
sufficient enough to buy a new server?  even a couple of dollars.
if there is a bank account number on the site somewhere to deposit money i'd
be interested.  I am a member but hardly browse due to the server being
down.  If it can be available at least 4 days a week then i will become a
more regular user.

My alternative to Railpage is Railmedia.com.au.  The guys in there are
great, everyone gets along and a chatroom has been setup.  There is also a
monthly magazine which the members contribute to you can download.

Same thing is happening at railimages.com and trainboard.com

People dish in a few bucks when they can as a donation to keep it
going.
other than that, mass banner ads are about the only thing or popups

If David would set up an account of some kind I would contribute.  I love the site
and visit there frequently.  It is my main source of information on Australian locos.
I would much rather contribute than contend with those triple-damned pop-ups and
banners.  I have prohibited railpix from opening on my browser for that very reason.

People seem to be under the misconception that Railpage is entirely
mine. That was true 10 years ago, but has not been the case for some time.

There already is a place to make donations:

Unfortunately "spokes_person" DB
The redirection to Pay_Pal times out, and I had to reset explorer to hang on
long enough for the connection :o))))
But I wonder if it is time for the partners to tell us what is happening?
It would really be nice to get all the connections working properly and stay
that way into the future. I don't mind helping with $20 but we really need
to know what can be done, and when it will be done, and how much help. if
any , you need.
Cheers and best wishes
