I've got to be truthful here Dave, that's ANOTHER consumable (the bearing).
All new swash's come (or SHOULD come) with a bearing because with a sliding
swash (like the Shuttle) what you don't want is the top ring sitting at one
point and the bottom ring (lot's of room here for innuendo which I'm
striving to control:-) sitting in another position. If the swash balls are
knackered, then absolutely you can change THEM, but not the centre bearing
because the manufacturing process uses the bearing to SECURELY join the two
rings. (ouch!! )

Yeah, doesn't it just, and doesn't it look odd. That's because it IS odd.
What I suspect the manufacturers are attempting to demonstrate with that pic
is the VARIOUS positions that links can be attached to the top ring of the
swash. If you use a 3 bladed rotor, what you need is 3 links on the top ring
of the swash set at a 120 degree spacing and that pic shows 3 links in the
"conventional" position and one in a NON 2 blade/flybar position.

Neither. You'd move that "odd" link to the postion opposing it's partner.

Yes Beav, you are on it.
HHI is just up the road from me, and since I was going there anyway, I took
a look at the swashplate close up.
The blue ring has threaded holes all around it. Place your balls in any
position you'd like.
