I was wondering if anyone could tell me the best current model of
remote control for Heli's. I am currently looking at the Futaba 9CH,
but was wondering how the new Multiplex EVO9 compares to it.
Also how does it compare to the Futaba 9Z?
Thanks for any input, I`m new to the sport, but don`t want to have to
upgrade in 6 month, I`m planning on getting a camera heli once I got
the flying skills down.

Sincerely,
Chris

My vote goes to the Futaba 9CH

Zap is too complicate and has many functions that only experts need plus
they eat batteries and the aerial mounting is a crap design and soon wears
out.

Multiplex is a thing of beauty and utterly reliable but don't expect anyone
else to be able to help you programme it.

Just my two penneth

I'v had good experience with a Sanwa RD6000 super. It had the most
advanced features out of all the beginners radios with 5 point throttle
and pitch curves and support for four different swash plate types and 8
model memory. The LCD is big and easy to read and it cost less than the
rest.

That was a year and a half ago though.

Iv only ever had experience with Sanwa. Why do you prefer JR?

Because, like you I've only experienced JR.

In all seriousness though, stick with what others in your area fly. One of
our fliers had a Sanwa and is was a NIGHTMARE to sort compared to the JR.

I flew Futaba for 6 months and was not happy 'cos I did not have the local
support. ALL of the people I fly with fly JR.

I know some flyers who got rid of their FF9C and are using JR9x now.
I actually bought a used FF9CHP Tx from them and is still quite happy
with it.

However, I am rather concern, since they did mention it is because of
some issues with FF9C that they decide to sell all their Futaba gears
and switch to JR9X. They refuse to tell me why, since I bought the used
Tx from one of them.

Anyone knows any technical advantage of a JR9x over a FF9C?

The best bet is stick with a mainstream brand like sanwa, JR or Futaba and
the be swayed by what most other people at your club are using - they will
be able to help you much more of you are using the same system and mode -
all the major Japanese brands are reliable in my experience - I just happen
to like Futaba

Everyone you ask is going to give you advice based on their own personal
choice of radio brand,  Here is the best advice I can give you.  Look around
at what is being flown in your area.  All high-end radios perform
comparitvely equal, however, if you go with what is being used by others you
will find there is more help available with that specific brand of radio
locally.  I went with the 9C where everyone in my area is using JR 8103s.
It took me a while to get everything programmed where i could just get into
a hover.  It was worth it though, I've now flown JR, HiTech, Airtronics, and
one Multiplex (don't ever, ever ever ever buy one of these) and still loike
the programing on the 9C.

A simple thought from a simple man.

I own both JR and Futaba radios and over time have used both of them for
heli flying, personnally i prefer the feel of the JR for heli use as well as
the configuration of the radio, it is lot easy and more self explanatory
especially the newer graphics radios.
