OK! read a lot about head speed and think I understand it but I'm
interested in getting the most from the engine. So is there anywhere
where I can find out the power band for any glow engine? I want to
look at adjusting the gearing to get the revs of the engine at peak
power at my head speed.

Most engine manufacturers show which revs the engine produces it's maximum
power, so your starting point would be to check out the websites of the
engines you run.

FWIW, the majority of off the shelf heli's already have the correct gear
ratio for the size of engine they're designed around,, and swapping the gear
ratio's is usually only done for a different sized engine as that's where
there's a noticeable difference.
