I am considering purchasing a Feda Dragonfly. My local hobby shop
sells one for $250. I see them on the Internet (ebay and other places)
for less than half that amount with $30-35 shipping fees and statements
that the packages are shipped direct from Hong Kong. So, I can understand
the cheap price and the expensive shipping charge, but it still works out
to be much cheaper than my local hobby shop. I would very much rather
support my local hobby shop, but I am having trouble with the premium
price, regardless of how much service I get (for that big a difference).
In any case, my real question is.... have people ordered from the Hong
Kong drop shipment sellers and does the package arrive safely in good
condition? Thanks,
Don

Hong Kong...and yes I can tell it came direct by the packaging and the very
nice Stamps used on it which will add to a friends stamp collection very
nicely.

I've ordered a few things from Hong Kong and never had any problem with
delivery.
You need to be aware of customs, import duty and courier admin charges.
Sometimes you won't pay them and sometimes you will. Luck of the draw
really but I'd say that in most cases you escape them. But bear in mind, if
you do, then the cost saving won't be that big and may not be worth the fact
that you are unlikely to have warranty that can be used in your country.
Cheers,
Nigel

I purchased a "dragonfly" from RC-Expert.com (anyone know what kind o
dragonfly the cheapo is?) and despite their warning that surface mai
results in damaged packages I went on the cheap and had it shippe
surface.
It arrived about 7 weeks later from Hong Kong and the package looke
rough. I can't tell if the following resulted in shipping or not; bu
here's how it arrived:
Tail rotor assembly was not attached; but it was all there, and to m
amazement I found the little rubber tube that holds it all together.
2 of the ping-pong balls in the trainer kit were dented. no biggie
The Tx looked fine, but one of the control knobs was not properl
attached to the pot inside. Took a little troubleshooting to figur
out why the one servo wouldn't respond but got it fixed.
So now I'm bunny hopping my (first) new heli around the patio an
having a great time learning to fly it.
If I had to do it again I would go for the more expensive air shippin
option.
On another note, the manual that came with my heli is pretty worthles
and not translated very well
