How high to fly?   How high is "two mistakes high"?

Fellow flyers,

I'm trying to move from figure 8s to stall turns and loops.  Stuff
I've read says to fly 2 mistakes high.  Does that mean that you have a
chance at saving one mistake without a crash?

I fly mostly 30s, and they get really hard for me to see high up.  I
think I would be more at risk trying to do a maneuver so high that I
can't clearly see orientation...

What do others think?

Flying 2 mistakes high means it is better than flying one mistake too
low...ie you are giving yourself recovery room for a bad manouevre and will
still keep flying, Nothing wrong with that at all, probably the best way to
go till you've got all your manouevres polished off to a fine degree and
then you can come in a bit closer. Only other thing is if you are struggling
to see the plane at the height you are doing manouevres at then either (A)
you are too high or (B) you may need glasses...I only wear glasses for
driving and computer work but now find them better for when I am flying
too...even if they are only prescription sunglasses...at least it stops the
eyestrain and allows you to concentrate better.

Regards........Mark

As high as you can comfortably see what the heli is doing. Any higher and
you won't know what's happening, and lower and you've increased the risk for
no good reason.

Of course, the ACTUAL height depends on how good your eyesight is:-)
