compare it to.

VERY personal choice.
I've heard that G3 is good but also heard it's full of bugs. Also heard that
Reflex XTR is the dogs bollocks and the physics aren't bad but it needs a
powerful machine to run.......you choose, I chose XTR

I use Flight Sim - suits me fine! I connect my DX7 to a laptop and it works
fine. Sure it's not the real thing but my practical flying has improved
since I started using it. http://www.phoenix-sim.com/downloads.htm#demos

Something is seriously messed up if you find FMS more realistic than G3.
How much fps are you getting on Realflight?

Haven't tried the FMS but doesn't sound bad considering the money! :-)
I've got the RealFlight G3 and upgraded to the 3.5 version when they allowed
registered users to do so. It's an Ok sim, good graphics and such, but I
agree with the generally twitchy feel. You won't really notice that if
you're trying to learn 3D stuff. The part I was always disappointed in was
that the sim would never lock into a nice stable hover. It always diverged
one way or the other in a way that the real birds simply don't do unless
they're really badly setup.
Currently, I'm flying the Phoenix sim and really like it. Graphics are on
par with the RealFlight and I have an easier time staying oriented to the
"model" at a distance than I did with the RF. 3D flying is about the same
between the two but hover dynamics are a lot better with the Phoenix. The
RF comes with it's own controller (transmitter) while the Phoenix has you
use your own transmitter through a USB patch cord that you order when you
buy the sim so that you get the correct one. Mine works great on my desktop
and laptop computers.
Good luck!

After screwing around with G3 for about two hours or so I totaly agree that
FMS is way better espescially considering the money involved. You can also
down load other models from fan sites and such. I recently purchased a Esky
Lama V4 and the software came with the heli. I downloaded the software from
there site and within 3 days I was able to get a stable 30 second hover and
soft landing in game AND real life.

the only thing with FMS is you need to add wind effects otherwise is way
to easy, with a 3d model you can take off hover for 30 seconds and land
in exactly the same spot pointing the the same way with just using
throttle, and no helicopter no mater how "dialled in" it is would do this

Hey,
How'd ya get FMS to recognise the USB input? I tried installing FMS and it
only gives me Serial or Parrallel input controllers ..
TIA
