shuttle tail unit case cracked

Upon inspection after two flights today I found the right piece of the
'tail unit case' of my shuttle plus cracked across where the bearing is
held. I removed the rear most bolt and the piece just dropped off. The
break is kind of fuzzy and bumpy... i.e. not at all smooth.

That day one of the boom supports had worked it self loose. The tail fin
resonated at a particular point when spinning up before taking off.
Being inquisitive and spinning up a few more times would not have helped
matters.

I cannot think what else would have caused this apart from vibration damage.

Has anybody experienced this or have an idea as to how this could have
happened?

Just as you suspected, vibration. Cure it before you fly again and your tail
should last a bit longer.
