We Brits are REALLY suffering at the moment. It's Summer when it normally
pisses it down but its HOT!!! 30 + degrees C today in normally wet and windy
Manchester, and it's been this way for the last week. The worst news is that
its going to stay this way for most of August........I can't cope with
this...can't wait for the Winter!!!!!!

I dunno, it seems we're never happy - similar comments at our club
yesterday, most of 'em packed up early and went home! Well I suppose we'll
soon be moaning about it being too bloody cold :-)

When it's too hot to fly, I find something else to do, but I'm buggered if
I'll complain when the temps have moved a few degrees like some folk I know.
I can't believe the complaining gets. As soon as it gets above 70, all we
hear is "It's too bloody hot". As it happens I don't like it too hot, and
our field has NO shade whatsoever, so it's madness to be out there mid
afternoon when the sun is baking hot, but when it IS, I can always stay out
of the "constant glare of the sun" (Brit's may twig that one:-) by not going
flying. We all know it's not going to last forever, but I'll be happy if we
see August out in decent temps.

Same here but as you say, I'll never complain about it being too hot.

Well these celebrities ask for it don't they? :-)

Oh you mean for more than four consecutive minutes of "constant" sunshine
surely :-)

Some tips from douwunda the land of the very well done on both sides.
40 C is not too unusual here in summer, had a few last summer.

We get a fair bit of advice here on media in summer..
Dont go in sun between 10AM and 2PM its the hottest period.
Slip, Slop and Slap
a common TV advert here.
Slip on a shirt
Slop on sun screen
Slap on a hat

(A hat suffice to shade face, ears and neck)

Wet scarf is good, head is the part that doesnt like the heat, cool
the artery on the neck with wet scarf or small towel and youll feel a
whole lot better and wont pass out.
You can buy them made up with stuff inside you stick in the fridge
before hand.

Welcome to the House of Pain.
I cant describe the sensation of waking in the morning and lifting
your head, hit with white hot pain as the flesh from your seared ear
tips tears off, stuck to the pillow from pustulant liquid weeping out
of the sunburnt flesh.

Dont wear shorts or short sleeves outdoors in the sun.
Dont take your shirt off.
Loose full length clothing.
Your clothes may get hot but at least you wont wake up in the morning
and visit the house of pain.
Tanning will simply phuck your skin including sub dermis so dont do
it, period.
If you have to go to the pool go to an indoor one
Avoid the beach completely for a cooler day.

My advice is just stay out of the hot sun period, find something to do
in the aircond house for the day.
Youll suffer less, possibly live longer and wont have to hear a bunch
of morons telling you how hot it is or as in the case here downunda,
telling you how much they love the heat.

Cheers
