i have a corona with ring gyro that was working great until i crashed from
about 10' straight down. checked/adjusted everything and is fine, but the
tail is wagging back and forth now about 3" back and forth pretty quickly at
hover. i did lower the gain.
any thoughts?

A bollocksed gyro perchance?

Can you get your mitts on a loaner to try?
