I was talking to someone about how difficult it is to buy from a web site
nowadays. So many people have missed the point. As a web designer I was told
you should be able to buy something from a site in three clicks.
At last I found a site that allowed me to do this. It's called
www.modelbits.com and even if you don't buy anything it's worth taking a
look to see how functionality wins over looks every time.
I know some of the pages aren't up yet but from the update page you can see
things are actually being updated - wow what a concept :)
To prove what I mean, I asked my 11 year old son to add some rotor head
links for my Hummingbird V3 Helicopter to the shopping basket and he managed
to so easily it was a pleasure to watch.

Here is some (I hope constructive) feedback.
Point 1
The model industry simply can't afford to maintain the stock levels of the
likes of Amazon etc. As a result it is much more common place to find items
on back-order, sometimes with long lead times - I have been caught out with
this before, ordering an essential spare, only to find a week or so later
that it is out of stock and on a 6 week delay. On that occasion my credit
card was charged immediately to rub salt into the wounds.
As a result I will only order over the internet if:
(a) The web site gives an accurate indication of availability
(b) The company does not charge my credit card until the parts are ready for
despatch
Your site does not satisfy (a) and I could not find any clarity regarding
(b)
Of course I still use mail order exclusively, its just that until I find a
site that satisfies (a) and (b) I prefer use the telephone.
Point 2
Your site is reasonable. One good point is that it declares p&p up-front.
I dislike sites that force you to register and process your order to the
point of commiting before you find out what the p&p is.
For UK sites, the yard stick I would use for comparison are
www.modelhelicopters.co.uk because it is so comprehensive (for helis) and
www.alshobbies.com for it simplicity and range of hobbies.
Cheers,
Nigel
