Hi I'm a newbie and planning to get a the colco 4 channel heli. Any
comments/recommendation about this heli for a newbie? Also can anyone
comment if this is a fixed or variable pitch rotor. I think it must be
a fixed pitch since it has only 4 channels.

I think you should go for the 6CH Collective picth - price is similar
if you get the Walkera DragonFly 22E like this one

newbee dude,i received mine about 2 weeks ago. i got it for 109.00
anyway like one of your responces said "get some spare rear motors
that is very true. my motor smoked within the first 20 seconds of powe
up .actually iam new to the heli scene also. the saying, you get wha
you pay for , still applies! the price of the colco tbird is ver
tempting.i wound up sending mine back (i couldnt get a refund so
settled for an exchange).meanwhile , i purchased an eflight blade, n
comparison!!! and  this bad boy works great. anyway good luck...joh
