Here is a link to the video of my 1st practice session.  As you will
see after over a year on the sim I still need much practice.  The sim
was a great help.  Here I was very nervous and had many spectators.

Wow, great flying.  Keep it up.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Great Flying for my first time with a real Heli vs. the simulator I
will agree.

Great Flying in general, well I got a long way to go.

The flying looks great!  Keep it up, no pun intended!  :-)

I'd only like to make one suggestion.  You've got a nice purple paint job on
that thing.  I happen to like purple.  :-)

Only thing is, it's a relatively dark color and, as you'll notice in the
video when you get it up in the sky, tends to silhouette out.  When you get
closer to forward flight, you'll have a real problem with orientation
because you'll find that you're flying a shadow.  You might want to consider
adding some contrast colors, preferably  lighter color.  Something like
yellow or white would work well.  I think you'll find that it will make the
model easier to see at a distance.

Just a though!\

Fly Safe,
Steve R.

Yepp, exactly like my first flights attempts. Good to see it is not
only me. :)

Here is a question from an ignorant electric heli owner:

Is there a chance that the clutch is engaging to early or that the
throttle is set to high? Reason I am asking is that the rotor starts
spinning before you pick up the radio,

best regards

Thanks everybody.  The color is just while I practice Hovering.  I got
bored during the winter and painted it for something to do.  I will be
changing it to something bright as suggested, haven't made a decision
yet.

The throttle is set a little high during that video.  I took it out
again last night and worked on it some more, I just about got it right.
I am going to Crow Island in Maynard, MA Sunday June 26, 2005 and will
see if I can get someone with some experience to look at everything.  I
am new and haven't had anyone look at it yet.

But all comments and suggestions are welcome.  I am new and don't want
to think I know it all.  People with experience have been throught the
learning stages and definately can teach me a thing or two.

Again thanks. I noticed a much more stable hover last night.  Practice,
practice and more practice is what I will do.

I will have updates on my site as I progress and change the paint
scheme.  For those who haven't seen the video or figured out what site
this is, here is a link.

Well done, but can I suggest that you don't try to keep the heli in the
air for so long at a stretch.  Short hops and a short rest between will
give your brain a better chance to deal with all the input.

Good Luck

Good going!
I think you're ready to take the training gear off now.
I know, I know it seems very frightening!
When I first took my trainig gear off I was VERY scared, but to my
amazement the heli was MUCH MORE STABLE and hovering it was super
easy!

No not yet.  Close though.  I have now put one gallon of fuel through
the engine.  I am getting pretty comfortable with the tail in hoer.
Gonna have to start practicing the nose in hover.  Practicing with
varying heights.

Thanks for the comments though.
