Suggestions for micro heli???

I've recently become interested in one of the micro helis availble as
I have a large warehouse area to fly in here at work.  I've seen the
EFlight Blade CP in person and have read up a bit on the ESky Honey
Bee 2..  Both are similarly priced..  Anyone got any opinions on these
two or some others?  I'm kinda leaning towards the EFlight because the
local shop stocks some parts (and I'm sure I'll run into something out
in the shop)

Opinions/Suggestions?

I flew mine today.

I really like it, but the parts supply is required !

I'm on my third set of blades, second tail rotor motor, and today the
main plastic piecy that the collective rides up and down on broke.

I do have a second which is in flying condition and swapped the cooling
fins from the first to the second,,

I am using a 1300 lit/poly battery for much better charging rate and
flying time.

My first attempts made me so nervous that the small blue packs did
really well. A dead battery meant a break.

Then I got an extra charger, a couple more batteries with the second
(used too) heli, and ended most sessions half shaking from the tension.

But today, i flew a whole pack, the poly one, out and felt good about.

I'm starting to do better landings and am spending much less time
straightening the head, replacing blades, chopping them off an 1/8, etc

The Honey Bee is a non collective based on seeing one at the RC field at
my airport

Roger had one last weekend.

The Blade CP is collective, and even with some initial concerns about my
ability to ever get it to hover, I'd strongly recommend it.

I'm strongly resisting my frineds urging to buy a Sho Gun. I bought
their Blades,,,,,,,,,,but with heading hold gyros at 150, and the motor
and speed control, which talks to you sort of, costing another 150, plus
servos and radio, recvr, etc, I'll stay with the blade for awhile.

Hope this helps

I have had the Blade for about three weeks now and can highly recommend it.
I am fairly new at this but can hold a hover no problem and even get into
some gentle figure eights. I have put the thing into the ground pretty hard
about 4 or 5 times and the only damage so far has been a cracked canopy, one
broken landing gear skid and a lost tail rotor bearing. The parts are easy
to come by either from your local shop or direct from Horizon Hobby and they
are priced fairly. The copter flies great but there is a problem with sticky
collective control on some of them which requires pulling off the blade
holders and swapping the position of a washer and spacer. It is easy to do
and takes about 10 min if you are at all handy with small tools. I did it on
mine and the problem has disappeared. I am flying the standard battery and
main motor and get about 10 min per flight. All in all I think it is a real
nice machine for the money.

Good to hear as this one is still at the top of my list.  I'm not
worried about tweaking and wrenching - I build flight simulators for a
living..

I kinda wish I wasn't leaving for vacation tomorrow..  I'd love to go
pick the heli up tomorrow and terrorize the shop all weekend...

Hi I'm new to this list. I've recently got into flying micro helis.

The first was a Hummingbird V3 from Century Helicopters. This was a
great machine - not too difficult to learn to fly on at all. I have now
pretty much wrecked it though through too many crashes and super-gluing
rather than replacing the parts.

My replacement machine is a Twister CP. I had my first successful
flight with this today. This time I'm using the training landing gear -
you should be able to get this for whichever model you choose. I really
think this gear has prevented a lot of damage. I haven't really been
brave enough to try the 3D mode on the twister yet as I'm a bit afraid
of damage if it turns over with the rotors going so fast. If anyone has
any hints on how to ease into 3D mode I'd be grateful.

I've got videos of my Hummingbird V3 (pretty bad video as you can
hardly see it flying) and a friend flying the Twister fixed pitch
version on my site here -

I haven't made a video of my new Twister CP but will probably on
Sunday. I'll also probably post up a full review if I get time.

BTW these models are bought from UK shops - not sure if they are called
the same in the US or not.

Having flown gas helis back in the late 80's , getting my hands on thi
Eflight Blade CP was such a blast . Honestly , the gyro in this "toy
works better at keeping the nose pointed straight than a lot of bi
expensive choppers do .
It has all the stuff that makes it a real helicopter - flybar rotorhea
with full collective pitch - for one ... and electronic-mixed ful
cyclic control . The use of an independent tail rotor drive motor i
brilliant and solves a lot of issues . It is actuated by an anti-torqu
gyroscope and works perfect from the box .
The tail rotor skid is too short and you will want to add about 1/3 o
an inch of heat shrink tubing protruding from the end of the rod.  Th
"sticky collective" pitch problem will almost definitely happen to al
unserviced helis .
Its super duper simple ! The silver collar retainer with a set-scre
locking it to the main-shaft comes loose .The main-shaft will then b
able to slide up or down in the main bearings a little , causing th
whole rotorhead to flop-upward a fraction of an inch when it hits
certain RPM.  This will cause the pitch on both blades to suddenl
increase a little , jerking the chopper upward frightningly an
generally making it a little bitch to control .
The main flywheel should not have any up/down play at all . If you ca
slide the main shaft up at all , its too loose .
Now , back to the Blade CP .
I have not flown in over 10 years before I bought this .
I recovered my main blades once with flourescent heat shrink covering
and balance them regularly . I have not broken a single part (yet
knocks on balsa) and am very very happy with the whole package .It
flown over 10 battery charges out with no major crash . Youd think th
radio would be junk , and its wonderful instead . The gyro is supe
stable at pointing the nose , I forget Im flying a toy made of plasti
, and find myself looking at my old Cobra 60 like deja vu . Its n
trainer , but it sure takes off and flys where you point it , doing n
strange unwanted movements . If you can think fast enough to stay o
top of it , and dont ever take your eyes and your mind off it , yo
will never wreck it . No Im not plugging eflight , lol . Im just a hug
fan of the chopper , and think its the best thing Ive bought for 20
bucks in a long long time
