I have a JR Venture 30 with a webra 35. the problem I am having is I am
having to run the engine with the high needle valve almost completely closed
(lean) to get it to run right. I am using 15% cool power and a OS 8 plug. I
havent tried to trouble shoot yet just trying to get a starting point at
were to start.

Thanks
Daniel

Do you mean like 1/16 of a turn open or nearly one turn?
Nearly one turn is ok for that motor.

I'd suggest using something other than CoolPower and you probably don't need
that high a nitro content.  Mine used to run perfectloy well on 5%. The
Webra's are designed to run on low nitro, as I'm sure many in here will
agree.

However, the needle was only 3/4 of a turn open but it never bothered me
since the engine was running very cool with plenty of power and smoke at
that.

As for plug type, try a different one like an Enya 3, I haven't used the
Enya 3 in that particular motor but I 've heard they are a very good plug.

it's at 1/16th open and still way rich...

Seems a bit strange that.  I've had them go the other way (like you cant
seem to richen em enough) but never this way.  I'd take a look at the carb
and see if you can find anything wrong in there. Maybe something to do with
the main needle itself?
I'd also try lower nitro fuel if I were you too.

Webra recommends using Coolpower as stated on the note that is supplied
with the engine.

Sounds like you have the low needle set to far open

The main needle on mine is set to approx 1.25 turns out running on 10%
coolpower with an Enya No.5 plug. Exhaust is a Zimmerframe tuned manifold

With the main needle out as above close the low range needle until it idles
smoothly.  This engine gives out oodles of power even when running slightly
rich
