Hi Phil,
The Raptor series of heli's are generally good machines. They're relatively
cheap to buy and build. The 90SE versions I've seen that were really being
flown aggressively were also modded up pretty good so the overall cost
probably wasn't as great as it could have been.
Personally, I'd just as soon pay the extra money and buy a machine I'm not
as likely to have to upgrade to get it to perform like I want. I wouldn't
be afraid of the Raptor though, they're not bad flying machines at all. You
might also take a look at Century's Predator. They're an "up and coming"
model that's gaining more and more popularity. There's also the MA Fury and
Hirobo's Freya (which has recently been upgraded, now called the Evo) that
are solid and well proven.
Good luck,
Steve R.

The 90SE comes with all the mods stock.
All you need do is set it up with alternate paddles. I've not purchased a
single part except for paddles.
Give us some specifics for what is needed to compete in a world class 3-D
event using the 90SE. I'd like to figure how to make the helicopter beat the
guys using the stock setup.

Adding all that SE alunminum upgrades does nothing more than add
unecessary weight. My friend has one of those and it weighs in a hefty
11 1/2 pounds, it flys worse than his bone stock non SE.
