Ok here is the deal. Last week I went to my local hobby store to purchase a
Raptor 60V2 and he was out of stock. I then bought one online and when I
returned to the store for extra parts I was told that the raptor 60 is being
discontinued! I was livid for one so I came home using a special dealer only
number and called ACE. I talked with three different people there and I
received so many different answers my head was spinning. I was told that the
Raptor 60 was being discontinued for the new Raptor 90, then i was told they
are just going to upgrade the 60 with some new parts and a longer boom and
that the 60 should be back in stock by mid September. Does anybody know what
is the truth? I am really getting tired of not getting a straight answer
from them. I just want to make sure that I didn't waste my money on a kit
that they are going to stop selling and making parts for!

I have no real answer here but common sense would suggest that to
discontinue the R60 would be loony!  With more and more people moving into
the "50" sized class, with all its advantges, it seems logical that some
will then move further into the true "60" territory.

Moving on from that theme, if the R50 is essentially a R30, if I were TT I'd
stretch the R60 to an R90 and help people migrate even further!  Thus
selling bigger and more classess of chopper and spares and engines!

But I'm not TT so what do I know.

To put your mind at rest though, even if they stopped the R60 today I bet
you'll still get spares for ages to come.  The Raptor family isn't exactly
underselling is it?

Hi

That's the reason I held off buying the TT60, I found out from Cyberheli
that the TT60 ARTF kit is being discontinued, and that put me off purchasing
a kit until I hear concrete proof that's its not being discontinued.

I heard the same, that the ARF version was being discontinued but what about
the 60V2 kit? I just hope that like the 30 V2 they have a nice conversion
kit for the 60. I did get a great deal on the 60V2 I bought and I believe I
could easily get what I paid for it to buy a new kit but if it doesn't
change much it won't be worth it to me! I posted a message on Ace's forum
but they rarely answer any questions there, especially the hard ones!

ACE'S support sucks, a friend of mine owned a hobby shop and got nothing but
BULLSHIT from them.  He could by a kit from Heliproz cheaper than ace would
sell it to him.........................

When I was shopping for my first heli I was looking VERY strong at a Raptor
30. However being aware of how ACE's support has changed since their move
from Higgensville, MO (our local hobby shop has a difficult time with
getting orders filled from ACE, and support is almost nonexistant. For those
of you that are fairly new to this hobby, ACE used to make and distribute
some REALLY nice stuff), I went with a JR Venture. Was told it flys just as
good and getting parts will be no problem. And so far it hasn't been a
problem. If I'd have gone Raptor I feel I could be twiddling my thumbs half
the summer waiting for parts to show. Don't know for sure if that would
actually be the case, just baseing my opinion on past experience with ACE.
To bad Thunder Tiger doesn't find a different distributor here in the US.
That would fix half the problem. I fear the other half of the problem falls
on Thunder Tigers shoulders. Their plank engines are every bit as good as
OS's and they must make a pretty fair helicopter given the numbers that are
out there. But their accesories are absolute sh.t! Fuel pumps and such
should be tossed before they're even hung on the shelf to sell. And I know
there are other methods of shipping their product than using the slow boat
from China.

Anyway, good luck with your Raptor 60. Even with these kinds of headaches,
this is still the best damn hobby!

Has anyone done the torque tube mod on their R60V2? I have read a few
reports of the tube ends coming off during flight and causing no tail
control and a possible crash! Here is a link to a fix for it.

page until you see the fix.
