RealFlight G3?

My system should be able to handle any software.  I need one with the
controller.

Any recommendations?  I don't plan to be an expert from the Sim, it's just
something else to play with, but I'd like the most realistic in control and
graphics.

Thanks,

G-Man

I learned on G2 and it was fine for learning to fly.  Graphics not the best
when compared to G3 or other "current" generation sims, but G2 was pretty
much the standard back when I bought it a couple of years ago.

The same friend that has the Night Ranger II also has G3 and I took a turn
or two at it.  His computer was marginally powerful enough to run it and my
5 minute impression was that it's a bit smoother control-wise than G2 and
graphics are significantly better.

I think you'll be pleased with either G3 or the Reflex, whichever you decide
on.

I'm a plank-driver as well and think it provided some advantage to learning
to fly helis, especially when you get into forward flight.  Learning to
hover though is unlike anything I've experienced with planes.  But it sounds
like you're on the right path by looking for a sim to practice on.

Good luck.

Absolutely right!  :-D  There is not much that airplanes teach you that
prepare you for hovering a helicopter.  Generally, having the RC experience
and familiarity with the transmitter is a plus but beyond that, there's just
not much an airplane does, even torque rolls, that compare with hovering a
helicopter.

Fly Safe,
Steve R.
