I downloaded the demo for Reflex XTR, and I must say I'm impressed.

Is G3's graphics anywhere close?

I don't have a radio and would have to purchase one for the Reflex XTR, so
that will make it more expensive for sure.

I tried the XTR on my previous computer but never had much luck with it
although I've flown it on other systems.  I don't think it was the sim, I
think is was my computer.  I've got a newer (read, more powerful) computer
now and am currently running the G3 on it.  Personally, I think the XTR's
graphics were better although the G3 isn't bad at all.  I sometimes have
orientation issues with the G3 (which I think is a graphics issue) that I
don't remember noticing with the XTR.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Good luck,
Steve R.

Yeah, I recently updated my G3 with the photo field add-on's.  It is much
better but I think the contrast levels on the G3 aren't as good as maybe
they could be, and I have played around with the adjustments.  The lighting
on the model, especially at a distance, makes it more difficult to orient
to.  I don't remember having that problem with the XTR.

I suppose on the plus side, if you get used to that, you'll have a better
time in the real world where lighting is rarely optimal for any length of
time anyway.  I don't mean to sound like I'm down on the G3.  I'm not!  :-)
If fact, it's been a big help.

I showed my Reflex XTR (on a pretty good laptop) to the heli guys in the local
toy ^h^h^h hobby shop where they sell G3. They went a funny colour and asked
for the details of the local distributor.

OTOH, I'm probably going to buy my bro G3 'cause it comes with a controller
and he can learn the basics without needing to buy a new tx. (Yes, I'll trust him
with my R50 once I can see him handling the sim.)

You need a pretty good graphics setup to run XTR to advantage.

I can't comment on the photo backdrop of G3 'cause I've not seen it...

hmmmm.  G3 vs XTR.

I have xtr and love it- I had to upgrade my video card to get the frame rate
to a decent level- but it's great.  And yes, it's saved me dozens of hours
of watching tv.

But then again G3 will run on less of a machine- so I hear.  And it comes
with a controller.  I have G2, but it's junk.  I have been considering G3
since it has more activities that XTR.

oh- one other thing- the XTR site gives free upgrades/downloads- so you can
have more helicopters (and planes, and flyig sites) later.  That's a plus.
G3 charges for such.

has anyone considered Aerofly deluxe?  The advertising looks good....

Really?  I've got the G3 and recently added some models and couple of the
new photo realistic flying sites.  They didn't charge me a thing.  I am a
registered owner though!
