I've had Reflex XTR for a few days now and really like it. One thing I've
noticed though is that on my system (both desktop and laptops actually) the
frame rate occasionally drops to as much as a quarter of the normal rate for
about 20 seconds or so before jumping back up to its regular 60 fps. I've
watched Windows XP's performance monitor as it does this and there doesn't
appear to be any other processes suddenly jumping in CPU usage. (I
initially suspected the Windows auto-updater or virus checker, but it
doesn;t appear to be either.)
Anybody else experiencing this with Reflex XTR? Any idea to the cause?
Version is 5.02.1, on Windows XP SP2, Pentium 4 3GHz HT, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
graphics card.
Cheers,
Si
PS. I'm really beginning to like XTR. I bought it for the helis, but I'm
getting such a buzz flying the glider off the cliff I may be tempted to go
out and buy one now!

Yes I'm having the same problem, if I just land stop the sim and start again
alls well, it hadn't bothered me why it was doing it but as you have
mentioned it thought I would reply

Reflex copes poorly with anything wanting to share the screen with it. This includes
Win XP popping up messages about connecting to wireless networks, those little
balloon warnings about security, volume up & down on-screen displays, etc.
Some areas of the Reflex virtual flying fields also require collision checking and
can slow the sim down (for example, near the trees at the back of the Borstel-
Hohenraden field.
