I want to use them for aerial photography and video.
What are the other possible opportunities?

thank you!

What fun do you have if you do not need to control the rc helicopter??
I like to fly my helicopter with my control, this is why I got myself a
walkera no. 60 rc helicopter -

$300+ will buy a lot of repair parts..  Besides, what's the fun in not
risking the model?

A good thing for photographic applications I'd say, and probably not a bad
idea for making "in cabin" vids. Normally a "pilot controlled" vid from
inside the cabin (or a cam strapped to the skids) is almost enough to make
you throw up.

Hell, all I have to do is imagine the Queen naked to manage that.  :)

I can't imagine finding anything much better.

The only other possibility would be the "Co-pilot", but I doubt it's as good
as the Cherman unit.

Someone tried one of these in our club a while ago.  It was a pain to
setup and managed to crash his model for him.  Looks as though it might work
on the same principle as the Co-pilot (IR sensors looking for the horizon).
