Just wondering if anyone is running this setup?
Do you think something like a Dell D620 w/upgraded video card can
handle the graphics smoothly?
It's got this card:
256MB NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 110M TurboCacheTM 3
The 256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M offers all the latest graphics
technology to produce extraordinary visual effects, robust wide-aspect
LCD support and compatibility with all major business applications.
from reading the reflex website and their video requirements, it was
hard to tell what kinda of video card I would need.
Thanks!!

You can't actually control the helicopter - instead the computer moves the
helicopter around as if receiving the stick inputs. The idea is to see if
you like the look of the sim and that your hardware can handle it.
If you laptop can run the demo to your satisfaction then it can run the
actual simulator.

I get now...I'll give it a try!
I just found some other info too...that I need to check the fps rate in
the demo. A few mentioned a good 60 fps to avoid flicker.
Thanks!

A few other tips
(i) Don't get too hung up on measuring FPS - obviously you want them as high
as possible but if it looks and feels okay then its fine. You will find
that FPS varies with (a) Complexity of heli model and (b) Position of heli.
So a heli which has been modelled with lots of objects will yield a lower
FPS than one with fewer. When the heli is against the sky you will get
noticeably higher FPS then if it is against ground or trees. I have a
reasonable card and with V-Sync turned off can see FPS>200 in the sky but
sometimes with a complex model against the ground I will get FPS<40 - it
works fine so don't get too focussed on FPS.
(ii) Under the Scenery menu option you can select the resolution. It
defaults to the highest. Dropping it down will increase FPS.
(iii) Under Simulation>Display Mode - if you uncheck 'V-Sync' the you will
get higher FPS - the only downside is that you may experience some 'tearing'
in the graphics although this doesn't happen often if at all.
(iv) You can only see the FPS value if you fly in Window Mode. See
Simulation>Display Mode
