Hello,
I'm in the market for a good easy to fly helicopter that I can just
play around with inside my house.
I was thinking about this one:

Anybody have any experience with these?

as a toy they are great fun I have one and buzzing the kids is a laugh
they bounce off wall ceilings ETC without breaking, but you have no
control over forward speed at all they either hover or if you add nose
weight they go forward the more weight the faster they go, all you can
do is control height and the direction of the nose
as a learning tool for better ones its useless

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I basically just want one to play around
with, and maybe scare the cats, lol. I'm not looking for anything
serious.

Best $30 I've spent in a long time.. Fun to bomb around the house and
harass the kids, the wife and the stupid cats..
I put a #6x3/8 button head screw in the nose to get some forward
flight out of it. It cruises at about 2'/second which is perfect for
in the house and is pretty controllable with some practice..

what sort of flight(fright) times do you get from yours, mine is no
where near the advertised times of 12 mins

I'd say I'm getting pretty close to that. I did drill a small hole in
the gear cover and lube the innards with some silicone spray shortly
after I got it, but even before then I was getting pretty good flight
times.

They're the best performing of the `really cheap toy helicopters (or
planes)' that I've seen. They're not like `real' R/C helicopters but
they are great toys.
However, I've had two, and both died shortly after getting it -- it
just wouldn't develop enough lift to fly anymore. I'm not sure if
it's the battry or the motor, but either way, it's dead.
Get it at Radio Shack instead -- it was $30, and now they've raised
the price to $40, but that's still better than $60.

Logic is a little bird, sitting in a tree - that smells *awful*.

The main gears tend to start slipping on the shafts if you crash too
much.. Gently pry off one of the clear gear covers and use FOAM SAFE
CA to glue the gear back on to the shaft. Here at work, we've
"revived" several seemingly dead PicooZ's like this.

hehe, we bought the entire stock of the local Radio Shack's units a
couple months ago.. Most of 'em are still flying..

I also found them at Toys R Us for $30. Sweet. I'm gonna pick one up
soon.

Hi Jon,
Yes I do have an experience with this type of toy helicopter. But
remember that this heli is a toy and really will not serve the purpose
of teaching you how to fly a real R/C helicopter. If you really want to
learn to fly an R/C heli try to buy something for about $60.00 more
called a Lama II "Lama2". You should all see some of the other
helicopters I have recommended to others who also just wanted to learn
to hover and do a nose in flight. Please feel free to view my site at
my personal
URL: jeffmbx.rcuniverse.com.
Best of luck and safe flying. Jeff...
