lol.. Ok, so after digging around through the NG and other sites I've
discovered the little "toy" known as a Picco-z.. Kind of surprised about
the price, but considering it's IR that does drop the price alot.

Anyway, I thought I'd get one to see how it is. I'm really looking
forward to playing around with it. :)

Anyone have any stories or feedback on their Picco-z?

It's the most fun $30 can buy.  I buzz mine around the house all the
time..  You'll need to play with the CG a bit to get some forward
flight out of it..

I found a #6 x3/8" button head screw stuffed in the nose will get you
about 2'/sec forward speed which is easily controllable.  I can "walk
the dog" through my house with mine with this configuration.  They're
great for harassing my daughter's cats as well.  :)

Yeah, I saw the "pushpin mod" on some site. Though I can't see how that
could be called a mod.

I've got a couple of Basset Hounds that I'll be pestering with it no
doubt.. :) Though one, if I leave the room and have it down, will
promptly eat it.. He gets bored easy.. :p

I'm assuming besides the screw yours is pretty stock? Are they decently
stable? I saw a video of one that was modded with a CF main rod and 3mm
BB bearings and it was dang near rock solid in hover. I'll no doubt play
alot before I get to the point of doing that..

trouble is they either hover or move forward but you cannot do both with
the same trim

Be careful where you order. I order mine from nexusgadgets.com and they
sent me a generic brand - not the Pico Z Silverlit even though their site
and the order form states Pico Z.

Not sure how they will perform - Christmas presents - but VERY upset over
their deceptive practices.

I ordered from Hobbytron. One of the few places that I deal with and
trust. Though their prices are inflated.. I've done some electronics
through them before and it went fine.

I received a "Pico Z" from HobbyTron and it is a fake. It is calle
"Pico Z". Search forum for HobbyTron and you will find many peopl
complaining about them. Cancel it, if you can

Search which forum exactly?

The "real" unit from SilverLit is called the "PicooZ".  Most Radio
Shack stores carry them.  Beware of imitations.  There are a LOT of
'em out there.

Baaaahhhhhhhhhh... I hate being conned into buying knockoffs... LOL.. Oh
well.. I'll let you all know how it is once it comes in.

I really didn't expect to run into name game products.. :p

I don't like the pushpin fix 'cuz the things fall out after a few
crashes.  I have yet to have the screw pop out.

Same with the cats.  I put mine on the same shalf as my other helos.
Looks pretty funny sitting between the skids of my Trex 600 or my
Raptor 50.  :)

Yep.  I did poke a small hole in the gear cover and dripped some
silicone lube on the gears.  I also did the same with the moving parts
on the head.

They're super stable.  I took the spring off the left stick on mine so
I can fly one-handed.  If ya get it trimmed out good, get the power up
to where it'll fly at one "altitude" and you can let go of the sticks.

I can do spot landings with mine, but you either have to pirouette to
do a vertical landing or set up an approach to the spot from a ways
away and "fishtail" in, reducing altitide and distance as you go.
Takes some practice, but once ya figure it out, it's pretty easy.  I
can set mine down on a 12" square about 7 out of 10 times like this
and when I "miss" it's not by more than a few inches.

I put a bigger screw in the front of mine for giggles and took it
outside on a calm evening (remember, it's IR controlled so it doesn't
work well in bright light) and flew around for a while at about 5'
second forward speed.  Too fun.

Just remember to stop flying when you need full power to maintain
altitude.  You don't want to over-discharge the battery 'cuz you'll
reduce it's lifespan.
