on helis?... and the static pressure point??...... rc or full size....R22...or Jetranger any info appreciated.. R22/R44 it's on the main mast, poking out the front a few inches. Static "port" is just an open tube just behind the main gearbox. 206-BIII JetRanger the pitot is sticking right out the nose - I don't remember if the static ports are flush mounted each side of the cabin or not. Schweizer 300 the pitot is on the chin of the helicopter and looks like an "L".. Not sure where the static port is.. Haven't flown one of those since May.... Just the perfect position, with the doors off, to stick a big combat boot into the slipstream. The Airspeed indicator does weird things. Using it mostly when evaluating a pilot under the hood but sometimes you can sneak the boot out there when the pilot is doing standard maneuvers. Interesting that the R22s is mounted on the mast.....I guess its getting cleanish air when the nose point down in FF. Go buy a cheap GPS receiver (Garmin E-Trex) and stick it on the heli.
