Just noticed after some mods that one of my old heli's has a 'C of G' about
3cm behind the mast.

It seems to fly fine to me but is there any reason why the 'C of G' should
be under or in front of the mast.

Thanks

Adrian

Hello Adrian

If the CG is not at the mast it'll still fly just fine, and it's not really
critical. But a small amount of cyclic trim will be needed. That's
inefficient - but not seriously. It'll run a tiny bit more smoothly with
zero cyclic trim and the CG right on the mast. I sometimes epoxy a bit of
lead into the extreme front of the canopy to get the CG to the mast - when
the tank is half full! The fuel tank is never really on the CG and this of
course means the CG moves as fuel runs out....

Best wishes

Malcolm

Just added 250g to the nose to balance the beast.

Seems a shame to add the extra weight though.
