How do you connect the dean's short antenae?  Do you solder it to the
receiver board or just connect it to the old receiver antenae wire?
Do you need a different dean's antenae for the different frequency
ranges (72mHz, 53 mHz,  35 mHz)...how do you tell the difference?

Thanks!

You cut the original receiver wire so that 4 to 6 inches are sticking out of
the receiver (don't open the Rx). Solder the Deans connector to the 4 inch
traily wire, and you're done.

Yes, and you tell the difference by doing the following.

Order the one for the freq you want.
Check that it IS the freq you want by looking at the package insert.

I have 3 of them which came with used heli's.  I don't know if they
are 72 mHz or not.  Any ideas on how to tell?

Are the shorter antenae less succeptable to engine noise from a glow
or gasser?

Bugger!!. Can you find out what frequencies the heli's were on before you
got 'em? I can't think of any other way to know for sure.

Gassers usually cause more problems than glo-motors because of the high
energy spark, but lots of people still use Deans style twigs with gassers. I
suspect they position the twig as far away from the ignition system of the
engine as possible though, and they usually use a well surpressed ignition
too.
