Probably Phoenix, but also Reflex ...

Do they have facilities that allow you to setup your virtual heli? e.g.
could I see an on-screen pitch guage?

For example, say I'm setting up my virtual-heli for autorotations, I'd
possibly like to see on the screen the degree of negative pitch I have at
full bottom-stick, and then adjust my throttle curve or whatever until the
onscreen pitch-guage says "-3 degrees".

Is all that possible?

You can tell Reflex what the bottom pitch needs to be by typing "-1, -2,
or -30 degs" if you want.

Just "fly" the heli and make small adjustments to whatever parameter you
need.

> Is all that possible?

I reckon you need to learn all about your radio first Carl. farting about
with the throttle curve won't have much effect on your pitch curve.

Oh yeah. I didn't spot that blunder! I reckon a few (3 - 6) months on
Phoenix learning all the wrong way round stuff should have me doing better
than I did on my last attempt. Maybe.

Yeah. The blue one came to an early end, just as well as there were one or
two niggling problems with it, and I was about to spend more money on it.
Its replacement is much better.. facelift, jap-spec turbos etc., better
colour, better condition. Love it..

Is your lad still interested in Rex's, Skylines and Evos ?

I'm gonna check the bank account, and as long as I don't get a shock, I'm
going to send @£270 over to alshobbies for a PCM9x mk2 and a copy of
Phoenix. Can't wait ;)

Oh aye. He's got an Evo VI, but we're currently half way through putting the
finishing touches to a drag racing Pulsar. 1000bhp of it. I'll post some
pics when it's done.

LOL. That's Malcolm Hamilton. He has quite a lot of racing history behind
him - http://www.fastjags.org.uk/start.htm

It's not a bad sim, but it's still "young". Apparently the designers are
working on some of the physics (translational lift being one area that needs
attention) so even though it's not spot on, it's still very useable. And
enjoyable.

Wow. Crikey. Please do post pics! 4WD and 100bhp, that's gotta be a winner.
Is it the stock motor (bottom end) with a big turbo or something totally
different?

Even with 1000 bhp :-)

> Is it the stock motor (bottom end) with a big turbo or something totally

Nothing's stock anymore. The turbo's like a wheelie bin lying on its side:-)
The pipework (inlet, exhaust, turbo/intercooler) is all "something else".
The intercooler is f.cking HUGE and the exhaust exits in front of the front
wheel. It's got huge diameter wheels so we've had to chop f.ck out of the
bodywork to give him some clearance and the next job is fabricating arches
to cover them. At the moment the thing looks a bit like a shed, but it'll be
a f.cking fast shed when it does its runs. It's LOUD too:-)

My news provider doesn't carry any binary groups so email would be better.

Been playing on Phoenix for the last three hours or so. It's bloody
fabulous! I'm finding it much harder to hold a steady hover than I used to
in real life with the Sceadu, and although I'm getting there with the RH, LH
and nose-in hover, I don't really know what manuevers I should be doing next
(figure 8s? lazy 8s? how/what/where?).

Got flips and rolls sorted to a T though ;)

Still hovering with 96% stability. It's f.cking hard though and it's going
to take a long time.
Perhaps I should set my eyes on something bigger than a Trex 450.

They're not so bad, but the bigger one (600) is better, based on my VERY

The 450's (especially the new SE V2) are very stable for small
machines.  Won't be as stable as a .30 Nitro, but if you can nail the
setup, perfectly acceptable performance with some flybar weights and a
bit of expo to soften the center.

Now the 600 is another matter entirely.  My maiden flight took exactly
one click of forward cyclic trim and it was dialed in and rock steady.
The more I fly this one, the more I realize what a nice flying and
uber-stable machine it is...

My *ONLY* bitch with the 600 is the initial cost of "feed".  Batteries
at $300USD *EACH* is painful.  :)

Precisely Kev. For me, electric heli's are all about being able to indulge
in a quck and CHEAP flight. Once you're heading into the thousands of
dollars (or even multiples of hundreds) they lose their advantage. Well that
and the fact that they don't stink, don't make noise and don't have starting
problems :-)

I think I jinxed myself with my battery cost bitching.  Managed to
puff 2 of my 600's batts yesterday just puttering around in the back
yard...  If it wasn't such a nice flying machine, I'd sell it and pick

Yep.  FWIW, the 2 batteries were both Align 4400s which have a pretty
bad reputation..  I got 'em both for $300 and they did ok for some
basic FF stuff, but I've just ordered a pair of FlightPower EVO 25
5000mah packs..  Those should let me hammer on it a bit without any
battery worries...

I doubt my wife would share in your opinion.  I already told her I'm
gonna buy a big Bergen gasser (Intrepid EB) sometime this year..  She

The problem comes with the translation.  In their eyes, it's an apples
to orangutans comparison...

I was rebuilding my Blade CP yesterday (I've got the urge to fly in
the living room again) and my wife asked "Why do you have all those
helicopters?  You can only fly one at a time."  I thought immediately
of the "if I crash one, I can still fly and don't have to come home"
reasoning but my mouth spit out "How come you have 30 pairs of shoes?
You can only wear one pair at a time."

Right before she stormed off, she said "It's not the same."

Yeah, ok....

I really got her going last night..  Told her I'd reached the halfway
point in funds for the new Bergen gasser..

She asked "What's a Bergen gasser?"

I said, "It's a BIG helicopter."

She didn't say two words to me the rest of the night.  :)

I was talking to a pal the other night (actually a couple of weeks ago) and
he mentioned that he'd bought a new guitar (Martin), so I said "So what're
you doing with that Gibson J-45 then"?

Him "Selling it".
Me "I'm having it". (I'd played it and loved the f.cker)
Him  "You don't know how much  want for it"
Me  "Don't care"

Back home I said to the wife "Whaddya think then"?

Her.. "A new toy?"
Me  "Au naturelle"
Her "It's lovely, are we still going out on the bike tomorrow?"

"Oh yes" sez me, then I didn't say another word all night, I just played
guitar ::-)

I love MK although I'm essentially an acoustic player, but that doesn't stop
me playing "Sultans" in an acoustic stylee. I've got no "one" type of music
I like, coz that'd be too restictive. I play blues, contemporary finger
style, some rock and I "unplug" some older rock tunes too. I also play some
classic and a lot of ragtime on the piano, but that's another story:)

she wont go to concerts

Sounds like a solution, but I'd need to see some jpegs for a fully informed
opinion :-)
