Do they have facilities that allow you to setup your virtual heli? e.g. could I see an on-screen pitch guage?
For example, say I'm setting up my virtual-heli for autorotations, I'd possibly like to see on the screen the degree of negative pitch I have at full bottom-stick, and then adjust my throttle curve or whatever until the onscreen pitch-guage says "-3 degrees".
Is all that possible?
Beav - 08 Apr 2007 21:01 GMT > Probably Phoenix, but also Reflex ... > > Do they have facilities that allow you to setup your virtual heli? e.g. > could I see an on-screen pitch guage? You can tell Reflex what the bottom pitch needs to be by typing "-1, -2, or -30 degs" if you want.

Just "fly" the heli and make small adjustments to whatever parameter you need.
> Is all that possible? I reckon you need to learn all about your radio first Carl. farting about with the throttle curve won't have much effect on your pitch curve.

Oh yeah. I didn't spot that blunder! I reckon a few (3 - 6) months on Phoenix learning all the wrong way round stuff should have me doing better than I did on my last attempt. Maybe.

It's not a bad sim, but it's still "young". Apparently the designers are working on some of the physics (translational lift being one area that needs attention) so even though it's not spot on, it's still very useable. And enjoyable.

4WD and 100bhp, that's gotta be a winner.
Even with 1000 bhp :-)
> Is it the stock motor (bottom end) with a big turbo or something totally > different? Nothing's stock anymore. The turbo's like a wheelie bin lying on its side:-) The pipework (inlet, exhaust, turbo/intercooler) is all "something else". The intercooler is f.cking HUGE and the exhaust exits in front of the front wheel. It's got huge diameter wheels so we've had to chop f.ck out of the bodywork to give him some clearance and the next job is fabricating arches to cover them. At the moment the thing looks a bit like a shed, but it'll be a f.cking fast shed when it does its runs. It's LOUD too:-)

Been playing on Phoenix for the last three hours or so. It's bloody fabulous! I'm finding it much harder to hold a steady hover than I used to in real life with the Sceadu, and although I'm getting there with the RH, LH and nose-in hover, I don't really know what manuevers I should be doing next (figure 8s? lazy 8s? how/what/where?).
Got flips and rolls sorted to a T though ;)

The 450's (especially the new SE V2) are very stable for small machines. Won't be as stable as a .30 Nitro, but if you can nail the setup, perfectly acceptable performance with some flybar weights and a bit of expo to soften the center.
Now the 600 is another matter entirely. My maiden flight took exactly one click of forward cyclic trim and it was dialed in and rock steady. The more I fly this one, the more I realize what a nice flying and uber-stable machine it is...
My *ONLY* bitch with the 600 is the initial cost of "feed". Batteries at $300USD *EACH* is painful. :)

For me, electric heli's are all about being able to indulge in a quck and CHEAP flight. Once you're heading into the thousands of dollars (or even multiples of hundreds) they lose their advantage. Well that and the fact that they don't stink, don't make noise and don't have starting problems :-)

I was rebuilding my Blade CP yesterday (I've got the urge to fly in the living room again) and my wife asked "Why do you have all those helicopters? You can only fly one at a time." I thought immediately of the "if I crash one, I can still fly and don't have to come home" reasoning but my mouth spit out "How come you have 30 pairs of shoes? You can only wear one pair at a time."
Right before she stormed off, she said "It's not the same."
Yeah, ok....

I've got no "one" type of music I like, coz that'd be too restictive. I play blues, contemporary finger style, some rock and I "unplug" some older rock tunes too.
