How is the climb rate of your CP Pro. Mine seems rather slow, I have tries adjusting the pitch and can get from almost nothing to just about ok. I have a Trex 450 and that just about rips a hole in the sky it climbs so fast. Any suggestions ?

I'll bet your T-rex doesn't have a cheap speed 400 can motor powering
it either.

My Blade CP is OK, but it doesn't have lots of extra power.

Bolt in a good 370 brushless motor and it'll have some good "oomph".

I did that for a while, but it required some simple soldering to get
the signal to the ESC and make some wiring harnesses, and I always had
bigger problems with the synchronization between the tail rotor and the
main rotor after that (since the two ESCs (main rotor, tail rotor)
never really agreed.)

Ultimately, it doesn't make much sense to spend a hundred or so (low
end) dollars improving the Blade CP.

The Blade CP Pro is better.  It's easier to go brushless, and they let
you add a HH gyro which would pretty much fix the tail problem.  But
if you're going to spend $300 upgrading a $200 helicopter, why not
just get a $500 T-Rex (or MX400 or any of several better quality
helicopters) to begin with?

Now, it would be nice if somebody made a better quality brushed motor
that would be a drop-in replacement for the stock CP motor, something
that could be driven with the built-in ESC.  I don't want something
that draws more power, but being more efficient (and therefore
emitting more useful power) would be nice.

You can also buy a `converter' that plugs into the motor slot and
outputs an input for an ESC (probably brushless) based on the duty
cycle of it's input, and that would largely remove the synchronization
problem. but still I'm not sure the Blade CP is really worth upgrading
that much.

They need to somehow get a HH gyro into the 4-in-1 and do it cheaply.
THAT would improve the Blade CP more than anything.

We give advice, but we cannot give the wisdom to profit by it.

I never did the BL motor with the OEM Tx, I slipped a Futaba crystal
in the thing and flew it with my 9C so getting the tail to behave
wasn't much more than some trial and error with the Revo mixing.

True, but upgrading/tinkering is the nature of the beast in this
hobby.

I agree.  But the little CP is great for buzzing around the living
room and it freaks out the cats so it's double the fun.  hehe

You can ditch the 4-in-1 pretty easily since the Rx portion of the box
just pops off the mixer board.  Save the Rx board and hook up a gyro
where you need to.
