I'm trying to fly one of these Heli-Max Rotofly helicopters.

It's my first model helicopter but I've been practicing for weeks on
the RealFlight software and I'm able to fly and hover all the
simulated helicopters pretty well, so I figured this would be easy.

Unfortunately it's not. The "real" model is doing things the simulator
never did, like abruptly turning in random directions, spinning, plus
it immediately pulls forward and to the left when it takes off even if
I trim the controls as far right as possible.

Is this normal or did I just get a bad helicopter? Would I be better
off with something else?

Yep a Blade CX2 RTF Electric Coaxial Micro Heli or Blade CP RTF Electric
Micro Heli The first is real easy to fly and the second is not bad and can
be converted to a 3D machine for a few dollars when ready. They both fly
great right out of the box.

Welcome to the "real" world. The sim will only get you so far,
eventually you have to try the real thing.

This is normal. And after a few crashes, you'll find the real model
even more difficult if you don't know how to mechanically setup the
heli.

Eh? I have a Blade CX2 (in addition to others) and it doesn't fly
like that. Can't comment on the Rotofly helicopters specifically, but
I suspect they're similar.

It doesn't abruptly turn in random directions -- it might drift a
little here and there, but it's not abrupt. It takes off straight up
and down.

It sounds like they've got interference, or a faulty gyro? It doesn't
sound right. Perhaps it's not set up correctly, but that only
explains some of it.

Actually, I just realized that the RotoFly isn't what I thought it
was. I was thinking of the Heli-Max Axe EZ.

The RotoFly looks squirrelly ...
