What is the BEST Toy Helicopter To Buy?

I would like to buy one of the smaller toy helicopters to fly within
the house.

I see a number of competing products..which is the best to buy?

I also expect to buy a simulator in anticipation of buying a electric
helicopter in the future...the Eflight Blade series is what I am
currently considering.

So in respect to the toy helicopter offerings...which is the best
performance for the money?

Thanks

That's got a Tx on 35MHz which is not legal here in the states.  Now
if the original poster is in the UK, he's good to go.  Just have to
beware of anyone else on your frequency.

The Blade CX2 comes with a 2.4Ghz Tx so there's no channel "stomping"
to worry about and parts are readily available for when you crash.

It's not legal here in Australia either but I have a flying saucer toy that
uses 35 Mhz. I bought it from a computer fair and both the transmitter
and the model are clearly marked 27.1 Mhz. When I could not receive
it on my scanner I opened up the tx to find a 35.650 Mhz xtal. Then I
noticed a small label on the saucer under the clear cover which says
35 Mhz.

Yeah, 35mhz isn't legal here in the US, either. I think the Blade is
coming with the new DX6i on 2.4ghz, pretty slick technology. It is
nice to not have to worry about being on someone else's channel.

That looks an aweful lot like the Lama V3, hehehhe... We've been
selling them in our shop for the last few months like they're going
out of style! There's a bunch of metal upgrades for them, and several
of us at the shop are also flying them. A lot of fun for the buck for
an indoor heli. We're selling them now for about $76 US, and having
very little problems in the field from them.

Umm....... Not sure that you are correct. The one that I'm referring to is a
highly sophisticated, technologically advanced aircraft, both in terms of
materials and design. With intensive training, would be ideal for
professional helicopter pilots aged 5-10 years of age. Physically I'm out of
this age range but mentally it suits me just fine:-;

Hi Dave,

The Lama has contra-rotating blades, dual motors, rec/esc/gyro in one,
comes with a radio system pre-installed, same canopy, same flybar/
tailboom/skid, etc. Swashplate and blade mounts look the same, battery
cradle, etc. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong link. I'm comparing:

http://www.modelzone.co.uk/easy_copter_expert_edition-details.htm

..to...

http://www.eastrc.org/estorehelilama.htm

They are different colors, though we have frames and other parts in
black, green, and white, as well as aluminum "hop up" parts in purple.
Is the first link in the message not the one you're talking about?

Thanks,
Dave

I think it's safe to assume you've been well and truly "whooshed".

2 nations seperated by the ability to see what's obviously a joke.

Hi Beav,
Not much of a heli pilot here, so anything is at or above my skill
level :-)

While I am considering the Eflight Blade series, I too have also
looked at the offerings of Air Hogs and the Radio Shack stuff....any
suggestions as to whether any of these are worth buying?

thanks

I bought one of these, wasn't quite what I expected, but it does fly. I had
to remind myself, IT IS A TOY. So, with that given, I guess it wasn't a bad
purchase for $20. Shipping in the US was quick too.

I am so surprised that nobody mentioned the PiccoZ. Also known under
different names as Spin Master Havoc Heli (Air Hogs), etc. These things
are loads of fun and are virtually indestructible. I have flown gas and
electric heli before and I never though that a tiny (weighs less than 10
grams) 2 channel helicopter could be so stable and so much fun to fly.
They sell for 30 bucks at Wal*Mart and Target (heard a rumor that Radio
Shack sells them too). Even experienced pilots would have a ball with
these things. And you don't even need any experience to fly them.

If you want a small heli than what you are looking for is Walkera 4 CH
Dragonfly 5G6-2  http://cheaprctoys.info/smallest-rc-heli-walkera-dragonfly/
. Its coaxial structure and palm-sized dimension makes Walkera 4 Ch
Dragonfly the best model for indoor entertainment . The link is not a
store. You can also find other reviews about rc helicopters, cars,

How about some links to reviews on these helicopters?

The word is that most of these toy helicopters aren't worth bringing
home.

41 pages worth of reviews here. Mostly from people who never flown RC
before.

That used to be true back in 2006, but things has changed drastically
just in the last year. And the Air Hogs Havoc Heli is virtually
indestructible, very easy to fly and really stable. And you can buy them
at Wal*Mart, Target, etc. People like them so much, they have a hard
time keeping them in stock. LOL

While a picture is worth a thousand words, videos are far better. :)
