Does anyone know what setings I should use for the 6EXH?

I have :     Axe cp with heli-max hm4000 gyro, EF C12 ESC and still useing
the 3n1 board for the main motor.
Still using helimax reciver.

If I unplug the orange wire one chan 5 and plug the remote gain from the
gyro the 3n1 pulses the main motor.
but it works fine if I leave the orange wire pluged in. I can Live with that
but I would love to use the remote gain without having to buy a new esc for
the main motor.

Any help would be greatly apreshated.

What problems to you think you're having?  Give us an idea of what's going
on and I'm sure you'll get some responses.

Good luck & Fly Safe,

hi Steve,
I'm having problems with my pitch curve and th curve.
What should my th be at 0 pitch ?
What should it be when hovering?

I can hover at about 2feet but if I want to go up to 5 feet it goes up
but will not holed there it ether keeps climbing or goes back down.
I am flying in my living room.

Thanks

The rule of thumnb that I used when setting up my leccy heli (Piccolo cp)
was this:

If you want to hover at mid stick then set the pitch to about +5degrees
and usually you will need about 75% throttle at that point

Starting points for pitch (when learning):

Bottom stick approx    -3degrees
Mid stick        +5degrees
Top stick        +13degrees

That is linear 16degrees of movement so the heli should move predictably
when you move the pitch stick.

Throttle should be ramped up quickly on an leccy heli, this is because
leccy motors are most efficient between 70% and 80% of max rpm:

Bottom stick    0%
Mid stick    75% (set with the 'hover throttle' menu on the 6EXH) Top
stick
100%

With the 6EXH it doesn't have proper pitch and throttle curves (you can
only set the end points). The best way to setup the heli is this:

1/ First set the heli up mechanically (set all radio adjustments to
default: ATV, EPA, hover throttle knob to mid point etc.)

2/ Set the pitch/throttle to mid stick and adjust the pitch servo so that
its output arm is sat at 90degrees to the output linkage. Move the arm one
tooth on the output spline if you have to, or swap it to the other side
and use a new arm cut to fit but get it right.

3/ Adjust the swashplate linkages to get them nicely lined up before
touching the rotor head linkages to set your mid stick pitch e.g.
+5degrees

4/ Now you can play about with the ATV settings on each channel to set the
top and bottom points for pitch and throttle

After you can hover easily and safely then play with those settings to
enable 'idle up' and 'throttle hold' modes on the radio. For the moment
set these modes to INH ie. turn them off.

I can't remember where I got this how to setup a heli info from; so kudos
to whoever put it down first (it might be Beav, but my memory and the
original post is long gone).

Thanks Chris, I'm going to try this right now and will let you know .....

Hello Everyone.
Well I tryed it and it works better than what I had. It still will not
hold at a serten hight. It will hover at 2 feet now but if I want to
bring it up some lets say 4 feet it goes up but it keeps going up.
Is this normal ?

Well I'm geting board of just hovering. I can hover nose out, nose left,
and nose right. I think I'm going to practice nose out today.

Yes this is normal, the pitch/throttle does not control the height of the
Heli merely the vertical thrust. You push up a bit to get it to climb and
then bring the stick back down to settle into the hover again.

If the Heli really is continuing on up even after you have brought the
stick back a bit then land and check your head linkages, it sounds as if
one is sticking and stopping the blades from returning to a lower pitch
setting. Check this but first unplug or un-mesh the motor so that you can
work safely on the head... check for smooth operation of the pitch servo
and the rotor head connected and by hand with NO binding what so ever!

Go for it :-)

Thanks for the Reply Chris.
Man nose in is hard.
I have been grounded.
Seems my stock brushed motor turned it self to a brush less, oh well at
list I got about 30 or so flights out of it.

I just ordered the HDX300 3800kv and a 30 amp ESC.
13t and 14t pinions.
New main shaft bearings
Cant wait till they get here.

If anyone needs a 3n1 board for the axe cp let me know if you want to trade.

remove the ratchet from the transmitter throttle, and you cant expect a
helicopter to stay at the same height you have to fly them all the time,
