Which probably isn't a bad thing. The posts I do see here I
would consider high quality. Seems the really active groups
on usenet have too much off topic and trolling.

I can remember a time when the same was true here. Web forums are generally
much more interactive and that's where most folks spend their time. There's
not enough activity here to attract the tollers anymore. Can't say I'm
disappointed! ;-)

Depends on the forum. I can tell you for a fact HeliFreak doesn't
condone trolling and threads are kept on-topic. I know this because
I'm part of the support staff over there and I spend a lot of time (as
well as the other members of the support staff) making sure it stays
that way.

Web forums are often much more under control, I agree. But I
was refering to usenet.
The one thing I don't like about web forums is the klunky interfaces.
Usenet is so simple and streamlined. One can easily browse dozens
of new messages in seconds looking for topics of interest. Web
sites are bandwidth hogs.
But they do have their purposes.
