i just got this copter as a gift and it wont work. the blades spin, but it wont lift off, and it spins unless i push my right stick forward. ive tried messing with the trim but nothing seems to work > i just got this copter as a gift and it wont work. the blades spin, > but it wont lift off, and it spins unless i push my right stick > forward. ive tried messing with the trim but nothing seems to work The most direct answer is that the copter doesn't generate enough lift to take off from the floor; fly it out of your hand. Otherwise, ground effects cause the copter to gyrate around on the floor and it never lifts off. Once you have the copter in the air, you can then deal with trim issues, but you will never be able to do so with it on the floor. Also, check to be sure that you haven't picked up hair/fuzz from the floor and wrapped it around the tail rotor shaft. That is a continuing issue when you try to take off from the floor and it slows tail rotor rotation to the point that it is no longer counteracting main rotor torque, again resulting in continual spinning. If there is hair/fuzz, pick it off carefully with tweezers. Back to school with you. Ground effect NEVER made a helicopter gyrate around and it ALWAYS makes it easier to get a helicopter off the floor. Maybe you should do a little research about ground effect, concentrating on hovering heights/abilities of full sized machines. Well, excuse me!! What are *your* answers to his problems?? I don't see anything here but denigrating someone who at least tried to give the original poster some help, based on my own experience with small helicopters of the sort described. I do know what I know though and what I know comes from 35 years building, repairing, flying and teaching people about helicopters. > at least in your own mind. Full size birds will do it too under the right conditions. The model will lift off in ground effect at power settings that it wouldn't be able to maintain altitude with if you just launched it from your hand three to four feet off the ground. If it's not picking up, you either don't have enough pitch in the blades or the rotors not spinning fast enough. Without actually seeing the bird, it's hard to know which is the case.
