My Sceadu 50 keeps getting a loose belt!  Oo, er missus, no really, it does,
it does.  'Ere, no, look, don't mess about...

I tighten it up but after a good hard flight its as loose as a whores draws.
The prbolme is that the tail gear assy. keeps migrating a few mm along the
boom towards the pod, thus loosening the belt.  I pull it back again but its
no good.

I have now puuled the boom out of the pob a few mm and reset everything.

Is this a known problem?  Is it due to manufaccturing tolerances or is it
something wrong?

leave the tail assy hard up against the boom, towards the pod,, then it cant
move forward again now can it!!

then adjust the belt with the pod end of the boom...

Bob, it WAS migrating.  Wht had happened is that the belt had been tensioned
by pulling the tail asy. away from the pod and securing the nuts / bolts and
screws.  However, under load the whole thibg was moving back to the pod end
and thus slackenin the belt.

I have now put the tail assy where it belongs, hard against the boom end and
re-tightened the belt by moving the tail boom out of the pod slightly.  Now
under load nothing should move!

I am a tad surprised that the boom is held in place soley (sp? )by
compression and not by any form of throuh bolts.

Anyway, come the morrow I shal test fly (read: have a darned good time in
the sun) and see if all is well!!

righto,,, i was wondering how it was migrating forward,, it must have been
nuilt incorrectly in the first place ey??

yeh the friction of the main frames is certainly enough to hold it,, once
its done up tight ,, thats it,, i replaced the std bolts with some decent
hex cap head bolts and nylok nuts,,  to be sure to be sure...

happy flying,,,
