I was given a hummingbird for Christmas - Great!
One or two small problems with the kit - I seems to have been sent without
the top half of the box, so I had to go back to the shop & get a gyro & the
instructions.
Anyroad - kit built, but I'm struggling to fly it. As soon as I get it off
the ground it shoots off (normally backwards & right, but not always). It
does respond to the controls, but won't hover. I've got my radio trims full
over, but it still takes off (full left trim to counter moving right etc),
and the servo's are in the right orientation.
Is this helicopter lark really so difficult, or do I need to do some more
work on trimming the model?
Thanks
John

MIn used to do similar things. I overcome the main problem (going
backwards) by
glueing a tiny lead weight to inside front of the canopy. I got the right
weight by
balancing the full heli on two tall glasses using the fly paddles.
I also had to adjust a servo linkage a few mm to stop the heli banking
left..
It now flys superbly every time. It lifts straight up and requires very
little input to
maintain a good hother.

Afternoon John
I agree with Steve's comments. I have a Dragonfly. I increased the
gyro gain a tad. Moved the on board battery as far forward as I could
to get a slight forward tilt. Ensured that the tension on the main
blades were equal. Ensured that the paddles were parallel to each
other and the swashplate. You may wish to reduce the servo throw by
one hole to reduce the cyclic sensitivity.
