I have a few bucks ready to spend, thinking about the brushless route.
Not for racing, just very hardcore bashing and hopefully stunts good-
enough to get me on the next XXX Main video.
I will most likely drop it into my XXXT or if major damage is possible,
my old trusty XXT CR. Anyway, I want tons of power, speed, and
no burned comms, toasted brushes, or sand ingested into the depths
of the motor.
I am planning to get the Super Sport system, not the Super Stock one.
Well, what do you all think?
Anyone out there currently abusing this setup now?
Let me know your thoughts.

I'd do it in a new york minute.

I have seen people abuse the hell out of the Novak
brushless system and it keeps going strong. Then I
have seen SS systems last a month. I personally had
one last about a month of carpet racing. The magnet
started slipping on the shaft.
Novaks warranty service is good but a bit short.

I just read an article about the Novak stock SS system. It beat the
stock brushed motor and controller in all performance tests and had 3
times the run time! Unbelievable. I don't know if their open class
equivalent (I forget the part number) is as good.

Ya, I read the same article in RC Car Action, I cant see any reason to
get the Super Stock system, no reason to limit the output for me.
I was hoping for claims of "indestructibility".

My Novak Super Sport (in my XXXT) has served me well. I did have one
problem- the precision bearing at the pinion end blew and loose balls and
bits of metal travelled up the length of the magnet, putting some gouges in
it. I cleaned it out and replaced the bearing- still works fine. Novak told
me that if you send in your old motor they will give you a rebuilt one for
$30. Seems like a fair deal and I will take advantage of it soon. I'll be
putting some higher quality bearings in it to see if there's a performance
and durability improvement as wel.
I agree with the other comment about the Super Stock version- there's no
point in getting it at all unless you are racing in a class that excludes
the Super Sport. There are several programs that you can select on the ESC,
which is the same for both motors. You can choose to run a "Sportsman"
profile if you want more runtime and milder performance.
Go for it!
