Best way to condition a new battery

Hi all,

New poster here.

Just bought a new battery from Antics - what is the best way to treat this
one.

Fast charge from the start - or a nice slow trickle charge and then fast
charge it when in use?

I've never trickled charged any of my 6 cell 7.2V battery packs. NiCD
or NiMH.

Fast charge, let it cool a bit and run it down. If it's a NiMH don't
leave it totaaly discharged when sitting for weeks. Leave some charge
in it.

For NiCD, I charge it up and use a set of 10 bulbs on it (20amps) until
it goes dim, let it cool then do it again.

NiMH, when new many times need a few ccycles to get conditioned.
