Anyone having problems with their one way in their roto start system? Mine in 2
months old and it won't turn the motor over.

It it just spins (whines) the one-way bearing may need
cleaning/replacing.

At least I think that's how those work.

it was a bad one way bearing. i dont think cleaning those really does anything,
not to mention taking the whole rear of the truck out to get to it. I only got
2 months out of it since the truck was new. is there a better alternative to
one way bearings? in my opinion, they suck!

Depends  on why it's failed. If it's slipping due to castor residue
gumming up the leaf springs inside the OWB, then cleaning will help/cure
the problem.  Soak in denatured or methanol[0] overnight[1], blow out, lightly lube
with whatever your manufacturer recommends.[2]

If it's slipping due to mechanical damage then cleaning will not help,
and the shaft will probably be damaged as well.

[0] NOT 70% isopropyl. It's not strong enough.
[1] Seriously overnight.  Not "a while", not "a long time", not "a few
hours".
[2] I use a drop of regular car motor oil.

I will give that a try if this one goes out too. The shaft was fine. I am not a
very big fan of one way bearings

Actually when you think of the numer of race reports where "so and so
retired with a failed one way bearing". It seems to happen all the time ....
