There was a fellow from Brainlube who was going to try to break the land
speed record here a while back.  What ever happened to that?  Video?

Thanks,

If I were a betting man, I would say that going 120mph is a heck of a
lot harder than going 60mph or 80mph. I wish him luck, but I don't
have high hopes.

The guy seems to have the smarts to make it happen, and the resources.
Given enough attempts, I am sure he can do it.  I am pretty sure I could do
it, but I have neither the time, money, or motivation to do so.

The real smart thing to do would be to design some kind of product with a
catchy name and logo, make that product the critical piece that makes 120mph
attainable, then market the hell out of it.  "I couldn't have done it
without *insert product here*."   Maybe high speed tires or wheels.  Perhaps
a larger diameter wheel/tire would hold together better because of lower
RPMs.  Any speed freak wanting to match those speeds would buy those tires
in a second.  Or something like that.

I noticed his last post here was simply a link to his site, and once there,
nothing was updated from the first posting, a few months back.
Sort of makes you think about his real intensions, why bring our attention
to the fact that nothing has happened?

There are people who talk to hear their head rattle.  I don't know if
this fellow belongs in that camp, but I place very little confidence
in folks that Talk Big about how they're going to be the Biggest|Best
[fill in the blank] In The World.

I've had enough dreamers and salesdroids blow smoke up my nether
regions that I put very little faith in what people "plan to do".

Here is my more extended rant on the topic:

retarded, ill-planned BS were ALWAYS the ones that wanted an NDA.

LOL... Arguably the most poignant peice of prose... I've ever read on this
board.

As to the world RC Speed Record... I wish the guy luck, but I think he has some
real obstacles to overcome first.
The weight of all those cells, wind resistance, tires that will hold up, proper
gearing, motor/tire/gear heat, several test trials, and sheer $expense$ may
hold him back.
If he can get some industry sponsorship, that would help.... but he
doesn't seem like the kinda guy that would want to SHARE the credit.
The website suggests that this guy is about as "Self-Impressed" as any
I've ever seen.
