[noob] Breaking in HPI Nitro MT 2

I recently purchased an HPI Nitro MT 2, and I followed the instructions
by idling a couple of tanks of gas. I know that many people don't like
the idling method of breaking in an engine, but understand I'm a newbie
and I wanted to do everything by the book so to speak.

Anyway, I am at the stage of breakin where I need to run the car at
1/4-1/2 throttle. I noticed that everything with the car seems to be as
described in the manual, but when I run it, the car is super sluggish
and it takes forever to get it to move from a dead stop. If I throttle
up to 3/4 it starts to move a bit faster but it is still very sluggish.

I tried to mess with the idle screw but that didn't really help. I think
I need to mess with the carburator screws(low&hi) but I am not sure.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Do your best not to mess with any of the settings on the carb until the
engine is completely broken in!  If the engine is hard to start, try a new
glow plug.  The manual should tell you when you can start adjusting the
carb!
Good Luck

The engine isn't hard to start at all, in fact it is easy. It is just
that the car doesn't move unless I am at almost full throttle.

I agree, BUT.....
Sometimes, you simply HAVE to lean that high speed needle (just a bit) to
get the engine to run strong enough to push the car.
If you're still having problems getting the car to go... turn that HS
needle in 1/8th. turn at a time, till she will go for you. You aint gonna hurt
it, as long as you resist the urge to upen her up.
There will be plenty of time for THAT later. ;-)
The guys that ruin their engines, are the ones that don't have the
patience to go easy for the first 10 tanks or so.
A properly broken-in engine will run STRONGER, and much LONGER.
Sounds to me, you're doin' just fine.

It will be sluggish if it is rich enough and you want that for break in.
After 3-4 more tanks like that you will be able to lean it out and the
engine will make more power.  It sounds like your break in is going by the
book.
